Carry-On Baggage

Each passenger can carry onboard a free baggage allowance: one piece for Economy class passengers. Each piece has a maximum weight of 7kg and the sum of the three dimensions shall not exceed 115 cm (30 cm x 60 cm x 18 cm) or (12 x 24 x 7 inches). Lao Airlines may refuse carry-on baggage and may require the passenger to check in his baggage if it exceeds the quantity, weight, and dimensions specified above.

   In general, Lao Airlines adopts the international standard hand baggage policy. Individual carriers may, however, apply for a different hand baggage allowance. If your journey involves a connection to another carrier (s), you are advised to check with these carriers for details of their policies and ensure compliance.

Additional Carry-On Items

In addition to the standard cabin baggage allowance, each passenger may carry, without additional charges, the following personal objects for use during embarking, disembarking, or on board, provided that such objects are retained by the passenger’s custody

1. A handbag, pocketbook, or lady’s purse, i.e., which is appropriate to normal traveling dress and is not used as a container for the transportation of articles that would otherwise be regarded as baggage.
2. An overcoat, wrap, or blanket
3. An umbrella or walking stick (except one with a metal-filled sharp pointed end)
4. A reasonable amount of reading materials for in-flight reading only
5. Infant’s food for consumption in flight
6. Infant’s carrying basket or bassinet
7. A fully collapsible wheelchair
8. A pair of crutches and/or braces or another prosthetic device for the passenger’s use

Restricted Items

For safety reasons, dangerous articles such as those listed below must not be carried in passenger’s baggage:

1. Compressed gases (flammable, non-flammable, and poisonous) such as butane, oxygen, propane, aqualung cylinders
2. Corrosives such as acids, alkalis, and wet-cell batteries
3. Etiologic agents (bacteria, viruses, etc.)
4. Explosives, munitions, fireworks, and flares
5. Flammable liquids and solids such as lighter or heater fuels, matches, and articles that are easily ignited
6. Radio-active materials
7. Oxidizing materials such as bleaching powder peroxides
8. Poisons such as arsenic, cyanides, insecticides, weedkillers
9. Other restricted articles such as mercury, magnetized material, and offensive or irritating materials. Medicinal and toilet articles in limited quantities that are necessary or appropriate for the passenger during the journey, such as hair sprays, perfumes, and medicines containing alcohol may be carried.

If any of these articles are found in a passenger’s carry-on luggage, the articles will be confiscated by security, and will not be returned to the passenger. Lao Airlines will not be liable or responsible for confiscated articles.

Standard Checked Baggage Allowance for Domestic and International Sectors

• Economy Class (Easy): No free checked baggage allowance for adults, children and infants.
• Economy Class (Saving, Promo, Silver, Gold): The maximum allowed combined weight is 20 kg (44lb) for adults and children and 10kg (22lb) for infants.
• Business Class: The maximum allowed combined weight is 30 kg (66lb) for adults and children and 10kg (22lb) for infants.

Note: Route LXG-VTE and ODY-VTE no vv for OW fare, maximum weight allowance are 15 Kg and 5 kg for a handbag.

Disclaimers

• Lao Airlines will not be responsible for damage to baggage due to force majeure including but not limited to acts of God, war, strike, trade embargo…
• Lao Airlines will not be responsible for damage to items or objects inside the passenger’s baggage. In case items contained in the baggage of customers led to damage to Lao Airlines’s assets or other passengers’ baggage, the passenger must compensate for all the damage and loss that Lao Airlines has to bear due to that damage.
• Lao Airlines will not be responsible for damage to fragile, perishable items, money, jewelry, notes, bonds, or any valuable documents, passports, identity papers, or samples contained in the checked baggage whether or not Lao Airlines know the passengers put those items or objects in their baggage. Lao Airlines will not be responsible for handling complaints sent after time limits for claims.
• Lao Airlines will not be responsible for compensating for any damage which is discovered outside the baggage claim area or in case Lao Airlines is not informed about the damage right at the baggage claim area.

Responsibility of Lao Airlines for Baggage Attached Limited Release Tag

1. For baggage rejected at the gate due to being overweight or oversize and attaching a limited release tag, Lao Airlines will not be responsible for paying the delay compensation.
2. For baggage attached limited release due to damage, improper coverage, fragile, perishable, … Lao Airlines will not be responsible for any complaints of damage which has been waived of responsibility

Valuable Items

Checked baggage shall not include money, jewelry, precious metals, silverware, negotiable papers, securities or other valuable items, business documents, passports, and other identification documents or samples.

Special Baggage and Sports Equipment

Bicycles may be carried as checked baggage or cargo. They must be properly packed in a strong purpose-made cardboard box. Tires should be deflated, pedals removed, handlebars turned, and fixed lengthways. The maximum weight is 10kg.

Golf bags and club sets must be carried as cargo or checked baggage. 1 golf set including a pair of golf shoes is allowed per passenger with a maximum weight of 10kg.

Sports equipment is included in the checked baggage allowance if weight exceeding the standard free baggage allowance shall be subject to the applicable excess baggage charges.

Baggage Security Check

For safety and security reasons, the carrier may request passengers to permit a search of the passengers and baggage and may search the passengers’ baggage in their absence if they are not available for such permission to be sought, for the purpose of determining whether they are in possession of, or whether their baggage contains any prohibited or limited items. If passengers are unwilling to comply with such a request, the carrier may refuse to carry them or their baggage. In such case, the carrier will not accept liability for the carriage of passengers and their baggage, except by refunding the ticket(s), applying the carrier’s current regulations.

Note

For transit passenger who is required for baggage security check at Kunming airport or Guangzhou airport, VISA for entering China is required.
