Early this week our nation celebrated annual That Luang Festival, which coincided with the grand stupa’s 450th Anniversary.
Among many dignitaries attending this special commemoration was a delegation of Miss Grand International – an annual international female beauty contest. Lao Airlines is among the proud sponsors of their trip.
During the delegation’s sponsorship appreciation meeting at the headquarters of Lao Airlines yesterday afternoon, Ms. Ariska Putri Pertiwi of Indonesia who was crowned the winner on the 25th of October, 2016 in Las Vegas, USA noted that this was her first visit to Laos. Her impression of the country is that Laotians are very nice. She enjoyed Lao food and hoped that in her future visit she would have more time to explore the country.
Ms. Supaporn Malisorn, this year’s Miss Grand Thailand and second runner-up of Miss Grand International, added that Miss Grand International Pageant promotes not only female outer appearance, but also peace in the world. The organization current campaign is to “Stop the War and Violence.” Despite, perhaps, not able to stop any war, the organization lends its voice to help reduce violence in the world any way possible. Ms. Supaporn continued that one of their visit’s main purposes was to encourage Lao ladies, who in her view are as beautiful as women of other nations, to enter Miss Grand International. Currently, Laos is the only ASEAN member not participating in this beauty contest.
Mr. Rada Sunthorn, Vice President of Lao Airlines, congratulated the delegation on their visit’s success and asked that the organization promote Lao tourism and Lao Airlines.
