All international travelers entering the Lao People’s Democratic Republic should present a passport valid at least 6 more months.
In addition to a valid passport, you may also require a valid visa to enter the country. The visa requirements depend on your nationality.
Travelers from some countries do not require a visa to enter Laos. Travelers holding passports from an ASEAN country as well as travelers from Japan, Switzerland and select other countries can enter Laos for a certain period of time without a visa. Please check the latest list of countries and any relevant condition on the website of the Lao Department of Immigration.
If your country is not visa exempt or if you would like to stay in Laos for longer than the visa exempt conditions allow, please apply for a visa to enter Laos. There are three options to obtain a Lao visa.
