Yesterday (18 Nov 2014) Lao Airlines welcomed its new member to the fleet the brand new ATR 72-600 the RDPL 34228. The event was warmly held at Lao Airlines Head Quarter at Wattay International Airport, attended by the managements and staffs of Lao Airlines. The Aircraft departed from its manufacturer in Toulouse, France on Saturday morning (15 Nov 2014) with a rest and refuel stop in Cyprus, Oman, Sri Lanka, finally arriving at Wattay International Airport around 15:00 local time.
“This aircraft is the last aircraft from our recent order” said Mr. SengpraseuthMathouchanh, Vice President of Lao Airlines “This aircraft will be serving both international and domestic flights complying to demands of route expansions and additional flight schedule in the future”
“We are aiming to achieve IOSA – IATA Operational Safety Audit, in order to enable our cooperation with other airlines and enhance our competitiveness, especially for the ASEAN Open Sky that is approaching very soon” Mr. Mathouchanh added.
When asked about what he’d like to express to customers, he said “For over 2 decades, Lao has been the national carrier and a cultural ambassador from the very first day that we took to the skies; on the occasion of our 25th anniversary we would like to express our gratitude and wholehearted Thank You for Flying Lao Airlines”
The new ATR will be put into service in a few more days, especially to serve the additional flight from once to twice a day in the Vientiane- Oudomxay route during the National Sports Games coming this December.
